Beachology is a gift boutique shop in the heart of downtown Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

The store’s concept was originated and produced by Maili Lafayette and her sister in law and friend Sheridan Rawcliffe. Together with the support of the Lafayette Hotels, Maili and Sheridan have created this store called Beachology. It’s a fusion of Made in Maine products and other great gift items.

Maili, her husband Ken, and their three kids moved from Los Angeles, CA several years ago. They both worked in the Film and Television Industry and moved to Maine to raise their family. Maili has been a wardrobe stylist and has worked on various Films and TV shows for the past 20 years. This is her first time living in New England. She feels like the eternal tourist that is always in search of trying to discover what makes Maine so unique. Beachology enables her to reach out, meet and search for local designers and artisans to highlight in the store.

This is where Sheridan is invaluable.

Sheridan Rawcliffe was born and raised in Maine. From track star to the Belfast Boiler Queen her love for all things Maine and her husband Rudy and their four kids is ever apparent. After graduating from the University of Maine, she became an educator in which she has been teaching in Winterport, Maine for close to 30 years. This has kept Sheridan’s creative energy alive and has helped her keep her fingers on the pulse of what being a “Mainer” truly means.

Spending summers in Old Orchard Beach at the store has given Sheridan and Maili the opportunity to highlight their talents, their eye for details and their personable service to many locals and travelers passing through, looking for quality and thoughtful gifts.
